The journey of Leda at Scalapay
Leda is a force of nature. Her vibrant personality and determined spirit have propelled her forward, leading her to become a Sales Leader at Scalapay.
But beyond professional growth, Scalapay has brought something even greater into her life. Here’s her story.
My name is Leda, and I’m a Sales Leader at Scalapay.
One of the most important lessons of my career came to me here, in the offices of this young and brilliant company. It’s a lesson about change, about how fragility can hold the key to transformation, much like the process of a chrysalis becoming a butterfly. And it’s a lesson tied to an unexpected love: Vietnamese piglets.
Let’s start with the piglet.
It was 2020. I was working in the travel industry, and things were going well. That’s my style—I’m bold, I make my presence known, and I love to negotiate. Back then, my drive to get the best out of every situation matched perfectly with the fast-paced world of travel. No process, collaboration, or challenge was too big for my hunger to grow.
Then COVID hit, and the travel industry took a devastating blow (we’re talking a 79% drop compared to 2019). It’s the kind of number that haunts anyone working in travel, and I found myself staring at it as I tucked my kids into bed at night.
When you’re stuck in a rut, the turning point feels like a storm brewing on the horizon—a mix of anxiety and introspection. After weeks of inner turmoil, I realized I needed a change, something better than what I’d done so far.
That’s when I discovered a young, ambitious company—a fresh unicorn with big dreams and a hunger for talent. I applied on LinkedIn, went through multiple interviews, and landed a sales role in a company that combines two of my life’s cornerstones: nature and making a tangible impact on people’s lives.
Three Years, Two Promotions, and a Whole New Perspective
Fast forward to today: after three years and two promotions, I’m now a Sales Leader at Scalapay. I can confidently say that this company allows me to be part of something that holds both human and economic value.
Scalapay’s mission isn’t just about numbers; it’s about making life-changing experiences more accessible. Whether it’s funding school trips, enabling travel, or simply making it affordable to visit loved ones during peak seasons (when a train ticket might as well cost a Bitcoin), Scalapay creates real impact.
And Now, the Mini Piglet
Beyond work, I have a passion for sports, nature, and—oddly enough—Vietnamese piglets. I’ve always dreamed of having one someday, no matter the cost. It might remain just a dream, but even in its intangibility, it gives me purpose.
In a way, it mirrors my decision to join a company driven by values beyond economics. Scalapay is a place where work feels meaningful—a reminder that the time we spend working fills most of our days, like it or not. When you work on projects that excite you, you’re enriching your life.
To Anyone Thinking About Joining Scalapay: Do It.
Scalapay is a unique place. It’s a gym for your skills and character, and it’s rewarding at every level. Few companies in Italy operate in English as their business language while maintaining a global mindset.
Change happens fast here, challenging you to adapt and grow. Even at senior levels, you feel the impact of your work and witness your team’s progress firsthand. The leadership is approachable, with no ivory towers—just shared lunches where you can discuss projects with those shaping the company’s future.
In Conclusion: A Piglet and a Unicorn
If I had to sum it up, I’d say our choices define our journey. In my case, who would have thought a piglet and a unicorn could coexist? Yet somehow, they’re a perfect match for me.
If something doesn’t feel right, change it. But above all, surround yourself with people who inspire you—because while you can go fast alone, together, you’ll go far.
